Kim Massay

KMDP is proud to announce this will be its 43rd season!

That wouldn’t be possible without our fearless leader and Director, Kim Massay! Kim has just returned from New York City where she was one of only 20 Ambassadors for Break The Floor’s Dance Teacher Summit. As an ambassador, Kim inspires and teaches dance instructors from across the country, training and helping them with their businesses. Kim's continued enthusiasm for dance education and performance has ranked Kim Massay Dance Productions a leader in the performing arts and a business phenomenon. Kim is driven by her passion to continue to have the best, most professional and progressive studio around. KMDP is considered one of the top 50 studios by Dance Spirit Magazine. She is proud to say the legacy is continuing through her own daughters, Star, Skye and Stori, who all teach at KMDP and share her passion for dance.

Kim began dance training at the age of three, taking classes from her mother, Dee Massay. Kim earned a B.A. degree in Ballet Pedagogy from the University of Oklahoma Ballet School and received her master’s in dance education. Kim’s choreography and performance credits while at OU include Lyric Theatre, troupe member of the Carl Cappock Dancers, a member of the inaugural University of Oklahoma Pom Squad, a member of the OU Ballet Company and director/choreographer of Sooner Scandals. Her career experience has been enhanced with modeling and commercials. Annual trips to New York and Los Angeles for workshops in dance have enriched her training via study with outstanding artists such as Luigi, Ron Forrella, Don Emmons, Phil Black, Steps 56th Street Studio and the choreographer for the Tap Dance Kid, Danny Daniels, Joe Tremaine,  and Jackie Sleight.

Kim is currently honored to be one of only 25 Ambassadors for the Break The Floor’s Dance Teacher Summit. The Summit is held each year in both New York and California and is known throughout the country as an advocate and supporter of the dance industry with more than 1400 dance teachers attending each city. As an Ambassador, Kim inspires and teaches dance instructors from across the country, training and helping them with their businesses and is thankful for Gil Stroming for this wonderful opportunity.

In 1995 Kim was selected as Central U.S. contact for dance casting for Star Search and in 1996 choreographed for the Oklahoma University Pom Squad. Kim has been named to the National Small Business Conference for the Republican Party and the National Leadership Award.  As owner of the studio in Edmond, Kim’s continued enthusiasm for dance education and performance has ranked Kim Massay Dance Productions as a leader in the performing arts and a business phenomenon.

“I can’t describe what a joy it is to be a dance teacher and teach your children, and now I’m teaching the children of the children I had in dance.  I’m proud to say I am not only a grand teacher but a grandmother!  “Tutu” to Star’s daughter Indie-Belle and Stori’s children Wrigley and Ivy.  And it is such an honor to have my own daughters Star, Skye and Stori keeping the family tradition alive."

"I would like to thank my mom, Dee Massay and my dad, John Massay for helping me get to where I am today.  And a special brother that I have, Greg Massay, and his wife Rockie, for just being there all the time.  For all these and more, you have blessed my life and I thank God for you each and every day."
